Happy Spring Break, Wildcats!

 

This week, from March 29-April 2, 2021, we will be observing Spring Break!  We wish all of our Wildcat families a safe, relaxing, and fun-filled Spring Break.  School will resume on Monday, April 5, 2021.

The Illinois 5Essentials Survey

The Illinois 5Essentials Parent Survey is open now through April 2, 2021. Please take an opportunity to share your thoughts on the important elements of our school’s effectiveness.  Each parent/guardian in your household is able to take the survey!

Reminder

As a reminder, all GDW students who will be attending Fourth Quarter as in-person learners MUST have the Screening Certification Parent Form completed (one form per student) prior to students being allowed to participate in in-person instruction. Any family that selected remote-only instruction does not need to complete the form.

Please complete this form by Friday, March 12th.

Picture Days

We are excited to announce that Lifetouch will be at GDW on Monday, March 1 and Tuesday, March 2 to take student and staff photos.  Photos are taken for ALL students for the yearbook.  They will be available for purchase (please see the Virtual Backpack for details).  Please note that all orders must be placed online.

In-Person Students:

• Monday, March 1 - Students who are in-person daily as well as Group A students will be photographed during the school day.

• Tuesday, March 2 - Group B students will be photographed during the school day.

• Students will be photographed in the gym during their designated classroom time.  

• Students will practice social distancing while waiting in line and will be wearing a mask until the moment they have their photo taken.

Remote Students:

• Tuesday, March 2 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. - Remote students will be photographed in the GDW Gym.

• Students and one parent/guardian should enter our school using the main entrance at the front of the building, proceeding through the lobby, and entering the gym where photographers will be located.

• Students and parents/guardians will practice social distancing while waiting in line and will be required to wear a mask until the moment their photo is taken.  

Second Quarter iReady Incentive Raffle Winner

Congratulations to GDW fifth grade student, Lexi Parker,!  Lexi won the grand prize raffle for our Second Quarter iReady Incentive, which featured an IKEA student desk and chair.  A huge thank you to Karate Academy for their generous donations including  this grand prize as well as free karate classes for all students who met the challenge by passing 6+ iReady reading lessons and 8+ iReady Math lessons!  We are grateful for Karate Academy's support and proud of our Wildcats for completing this iReady Challenge!

Happy Valentine's Day

On behalf of the Staff at Gary D. Wright Elementary School, I would like to extend my sincere appreciation and a heartfelt thanks to Harlow Events and Design Co. for their generous donations including decorating our staff lounge and providing wonderful treats, hand soaps, and hand sanitizers for our Staff!  We truly enjoyed such a thoughtful and generous gesture!  Happy Valentine's Day!
