Dr. Scarpino Visits GDW

Today, Dr. Scarpino, D300 School Board President, visited Gary D. Wright Elementary School.  During his time at GDW, Dr. Scarpino was able to see some amazing things happening in our classrooms, including Ms. Liebentritt's and Miss Horak's Kindergarten and Fifth Grade Buddies collaborating on self affirmations; Miss Placzek's Kindergarteners becoming doctors and engaging in math and literacy centers with a medical theme; Mrs. Neitzel's first graders presenting their inventions; and Mrs. Tohme's first graders engaging in reading, writing, and word work activities.  Thank you for a wonderful visit, Dr. Scarpino!

First and Fifth Grade Music Programs

Hats off to Gary D. Wright Elementary School's First and Fifth Graders on their amazing music programs this week!  Thank you to GDW's Music Teachers, Mrs. Henning and Mrs. Senior, for providing our students with such rich musical experiences!  Bravo, Wildcats!

Glowing Behavior Celebration

Throughout the month of March, the GDW PBIS Committee coordinated an all-school behavioral incentive.  Collectively, our Wildcats met their goal by earning 350 Glowing Tickets.  To celebrate this accomplishment, each student received a glow stick bracelet and we had an all-school glow stick dance party.  A huge thank you to our PBIS Committee for coordinating this super fun incentive.  Also, thank you to our Student Council for their work in tallying and charting out our progress toward meeting this goal!  Way to go, Wildcats!

Update: GDW's i-Ready Olympics

The results are in for the first three weeks of GDW's i-Ready Olympics, and I would like to recognize the following classrooms for having the most passed lessons amongst their grade level:

I would also like to thank Curriculum Associates for providing banners for each of the weekly classrooms to proudly display as well as for donating amazing prizes that will be awarded at the end of this challenge.  Examples of these great incentives are on display in our lobby and I can't wait for our students to earn them!  Keep working hard and doing your best, Wildcats!

GDW is an i-Ready Super School

Gary D. Wright Elementary School students have been absolutely crushing it throughout GDW's i-Ready Olympics!  Over the past two weeks, our students have collectively passed 5,876 lessons....and we are only just beginning!  This is an incredible accomplishment, and one that has not gone unnoticed.  In fact, out of all Kane County Schools this past quarter, Gary D. Wright Elementary School has the most lessons completed and the highest passing percentage for both reading and math!  Gary D. Wright Elementary School has been recognized as an i-Ready Super School by Curriculum Associates.  Our school was presented with a banner by Mr. Jeff Brill, Curriculum Associates Educational Sales Consultant, to commemorate this distinction.  Way to go, Wildcats!
