This week, Gary D. Wright Elementary School students and staff celebrated Start With Hello Week. Start With Hello (SWH) Week is a time dedicated to educating and empowering teachers, students, parents, and communities about violence before it occurs. SWH teaches everyone how to recognize signs of isolation, how to reach out, and strategies to connect students. This program fosters inclusivity, belonging, leadership, and empathy as a part of daily practice. Throughout this week, our students and staff engaged in many special activities including dress up days, morning announcements featuring inspirational quotes and daily challenges, art projects, special notes, and more! Hello, Wildcats!

Kindergarten Buddies
This year, GDW kindergarten classes are paired up with a fifth grade class. Each fifth grade student has the very important role of serving as a buddy to a kindergarten student. Throughout the school year, this partnership between kindergarten and fifth grade will include many opportunities for our buddies to work together. Today, our buddies partnered up to prepare for Start With Hello Week. Each partner group created a hand with a greeting on it that will become part of a special tree that will be on display in our school's lobby.
Dr. Cool & Pride Assembly
Today, Gary D. Wright Elementary School students and staff participated in a special assembly called the Dr. Cool & Pride Show. During the show, our school's expectations of being respectful, responsible, and ready to learn were reinforced. We also had some fun dancing and showing off our best behavior and coolest moves!
