We were thrilled to bring back a cherished tradition where Hampshire High School graduating seniors visited Gary D. Wright Elementary School as part of the District 300 Senior Walk event. Congratulations, Hampshire High School Class of 2022! Thank you for serving as role models for our GDW Wildcats!
Field Day 2022 was nothing short of EPIC! The weather was absolutely perfect. We had amazing food including Kona Ice which was generously donated by our PTO and pizza which was generously donated by Dr. Scarpino and the District 300 Board of Education. Thank you to our PTO volunteers as well as HHS AVID student volunteers and 5th Grade student leaders! Also, thanks to Mr. Gilbert, Mr. Rahimi, and Mr. Hunt for providing such awesome activities and for organizing the day's schedule of events!
Congratulations to our GDW students and running buddies who participated in today's Girls on the Run 5K at Lippold Park in Crystal Lake. Also, a huge thanks to Miss Pagano, Mrs. Damsch, and Mrs. Ronowski for serving as our coaches this year! Girls on the Run is so much fun!
Today, GDW's Fifth Grade Team took a field trip to Medieval Times, where they had a great time enjoying a special meal and cheering for their knights! Here are a few pictures from their trip:
GDW's Kindergarten students enjoyed a picnic and fun activities throughout the day. A special thank you to the Hampshire High School AVID students who volunteered to support this special event! A good time was had by all!
As a culmination of their biography research, GDW's Fifth Graders dressed up and put their learning on display by creating a Wax Museum. Our students and staff visited the museum throughout the morning. The fifth graders did such an incredible job on this project!
This week, Gary D. Wright Elementary School Band and Orchestra students joined students from Hampshire Elementary School and Hampshire Middle School for combined concerts. The concerts featured students in 5th-8th grade. These were our first in-person concerts since March 12, 2020 and our students performed for a packed audience! Our Wildcat band and orchestra students have shown tremendous growth as musicians throughout the school year and we are grateful for their director, Miss Mitchell, for her dedication to their success! Way to go, Wildcats!
This week, both Kindergarten and Fourth Grade had music programs. GDW's Kindergarten students sang songs and played boomwhackers during their concert, which was themed, "A Rainbow of Possibilities", while Fourth Grade students played a variety of songs on their recorders during their concert. Our Wildcats are growing as musicians and their performances were a wonderful showcase of their incredible talents! Way to go, Wildcats!
