GDW will be participating in the District 300 Relay For Life Event at Dundee Crown High School on Friday, April 7. Team GDW will be walking to remember and support those who have been affected by cancer as well as raising finds to donate to Relay For Life and the American Cancer Society. This past week, GDW students and staff participated in our annual Coins For Cancer drive, where we collected pennies on Monday, nickels on Tuesday, dimes on Wednesday, quarters on Thursday, and dollars on Friday. Each day, we held a friendly competition to see which classroom raised the most funds. Our daily classroom coin collecting champs were recognized during morning announcements and then awarded a banner to proudly display outside of their classroom for the day. We charted our progress on the visual below, and this year many students and staff added personalized notes that we displayed along with our donations in honor of many special people who have been affected by cancer. While our school-wide goal was to exceed our donation total from last year (which was $4,743.96), we came out in true Wildcat fashion and crushed that goal by bringing in a grand total of $5,337.98, which will be donated in support of Relay For Life and the American Cancer Society. To celebrate our accomplishment, a school-wide incentive will be provided to our students after Spring Break. Way to go, Wildcats!

The Big Chill
Under the direction of GDW Music Teachers, Miss Crater and Miss Mitchell, our first grade students performed "The Big Chill" for a packed audience! During this performance, the students sang selections expressing their wishes for a snow day! Fortunately, this week's weather forecast calls for temperatures in the 70's!
